Privacy policy
Effective 2026-09-14. Applies to the Mostaqeem app for iOS and Android and to this website, mostaqeem.app, both provided by Mostaqeem (the developer).
In three sentences
There is no account. Nothing leaves your phone unless you ask for it, and the four cases where you can ask are listed below. Neither the app nor this website uses trackers, analytics or advertising.
What the app stores on your device
The app keeps the following in its own private storage on your phone:
- your settings, including the calculation method, madhab, high-latitude rule, per-prayer offsets, sounds and reminder preferences;
- the location you chose, as a city name, coordinates and a time zone;
- the prayer log: which prayers you marked prayed, late or missed, jamaah, qada, and the streaks computed from them;
- Quran bookmarks, the last position read, and any recitations you downloaded.
All of it is deleted when the app is uninstalled. The operating system may include it in the phone's own backup according to the phone's rules; downloaded recitations are marked so that they are excluded from backup. The developer cannot read any of it: there is no server it is copied to.
Location
The app asks for location permission, in the "while using the app" form only, when you tap "Use my location" (at setup, or when you change your location later), and on the compass. Tapping "Use my location" reads your position once and sends the coordinates for one lookup (retried once if it fails) to the phone's own geocoding service (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android) to get a city name for the label. The time zone is worked out on the device, prayer times and the qibla direction are computed from the coordinates on the device, and the result is stored with your settings. The qibla compass reads the compass heading on the device to draw the bearing, and the position too when settings hold no fix; it stores neither, and nothing from the compass leaves the device. Your position is never sent to the developer, to Open-Meteo or to anyone else, and it is stored nowhere but your phone. The app does not track location in the background and never asks for the "always" permission.
You do not have to grant location at all. Typing a city instead keeps your coordinates away from Apple's and Google's geocoding servers too; city search is described in the next section.
What leaves the device, and when
This table is complete. Each row is a request you trigger yourself.

In every row the receiving server also sees your device's IP address, as any server on the internet does. No other network requests exist. The app has no push-notification server: every notification, including the adhan, is scheduled on the device by the app itself. The app does not contact the developer except when you send feedback, and it contains no analytics service, advertising network or crash reporter.
Feedback you send
Feedback sent from the form on this site, or from the app's feedback screen once it ships, is stored in a private Google Sheet and delivered to the developer's mailbox. It is kept for as long as it is needed to act on it. The email field is optional; if you fill it in, it is used only to reply to you. It is never added to a list and never shared. To have a submission deleted, write to the address at the end of this policy and quote enough of the message to identify it.
This website
mostaqeem.app is served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare's edge logs each request, including your IP address, as any host does; see Cloudflare's privacy policy. The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds nothing from other sites: its fonts, images and script are all served from mostaqeem.app, which you can confirm in your browser's network tools. The only request the site makes on your behalf is the feedback form's submission to mostaqeem.app/api/feedback, and only when you press Send.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. It has no account, no profile and no messaging.
Changes
Changes to this policy are posted on this page with a new effective date. A change that affects what leaves the device is also noted in the app's release notes.
