On iPhone, the ringer switch silences it: the app never uses critical alerts, which are the only thing that plays through the switch. A Focus mode can also hold it back. Prayer-time notifications use the Time Sensitive level, which Focus modes admit by default, so check that Time Sensitive notifications are allowed for Mostaqeem under Settings, Notifications, Mostaqeem. The notification itself plays a clip of up to 30 seconds, because iOS caps notification sounds there; the full call plays inside the app when it is open at prayer time or when you tap the notification within ten minutes.

On Android, Do Not Disturb stops it, and so does a notification channel you have silenced: long-press the notification to check the channel's sound. If the app cannot schedule exact alarms it falls back to plain notifications with the clip.

On both platforms, each prayer has its own sound setting under Settings, Sounds, which can be Adhan (Madinah), Chime or Silent.

Three settings decide the times: the calculation method (the Fajr and Isha angles), the madhab (Asr's shadow length) and the high-latitude rule. All three are under Settings, Location & calculation. Pick the method your mosque or local authority uses; a mosque following a different method can differ by several minutes at Fajr and Isha. Per-prayer offsets of up to 30 minutes are on the same screen for the rest. Coordinates matter too: a city-centre location and the mosque's own can differ by a minute at Maghrib.

Both end the same way: coordinates and a time zone, with the time zone always resolved on the device. "Use my location" asks for the "while using the app" permission, reads your position once, and asks the phone's own geocoding service (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android) for the city name. City search sends the letters you type to Open-Meteo to suggest places; if you submit the name without choosing a suggestion, the phone's geocoding service resolves it instead, which sends the typed name to Apple or Google. The time zone comes from the app's offline lookup either way, so a chosen city keeps its own clock even when you travel. Your position is never sent to the developer or to Open-Meteo; to keep it off Apple's and Google's servers too, type a city instead of tapping "Use my location".

iOS lets an app hold about 64 pending notifications and nothing re-arms them without the app running. Mostaqeem schedules a week ahead and, when the queue is about to run out, its last item is a notification asking you to open the app; opening it refills the week. On Android with exact alarms allowed the app tops itself up in the background. If exact alarms are denied it behaves like iOS, over 30 days. Force-stopping the app from App info cancels its alarms on Android until it is opened again.

Uninstall the app. Everything it keeps is in its private storage and is removed with it; nothing is held anywhere else. The one thing that can exist off your phone is feedback you sent, and you can have that deleted by writing to the address below.
